UPDATE: Implicit Psychotherapy has a new framework, so more of you who want to attend can do so.

With our busy lives I am receiving countless emails saying people want to attend but would be missing one training in the set of three. Or they can only make one set of dates. So I have listened and have come up with a plan to support you!

Here is a new set up for the Idyllwild training.

  • Register for 2 Implicit Psychotherapy modules and get videos of all the content from what you missed. You’ll be certified in Implicit Psychotherapy and be eligible to run IP experiential groups in your communities yourself.

  • Register for one Implicit Psychotherapy module and get the videos for free. However to be certified or become a facilitator you’ll be required to attend an in-person 4 day experiential filled with IP dyad exercises. This will have a low accessible training fee.

The 4-day Experiential workshop is the template for what facilitators run. At first I will teach those throughout the US and any country that wants to invite me to provide the training. And then YOU all will take over!

I am applying for my own CEs and have expert help. My adviser is certain we will get them.

CEs will be available for the videos. So anyone taking this live class will automatically receive the videos and be eligible for those CEs when they are attached to the videos we send you. I am expecting to have video content early next year. We will be adding subtitles to make these videos available in multiple languages.

Of course you are encouraged to register for all 3 Implicit Psychotherapy modules.

  • Get in depth learning to broaden your expertise in working with implicit memory

  • Gain effectiveness as a therapist and leader

This is one of the few times I will teach the course in this format. And you’ll have close opportunities to work directly with me in demos and class exercises.

I hope this opens up options for those of you who cannot attend all 3 trainings. I hope you will join us. And I am looking forward to seeing those of you who are signed up!

And please - refer your colleagues to the workshop! Those with no somatic background need to attend these in sequence.

Here is a flyer to pass along to your colleagues and friends.

Dear Colleagues and Community,

I am honored to announce the official launch of my very own training program called Implicit Psychotherapy.  I have been developing this training for decades.  My book proposal is being negotiated!

This new training has a two fold purpose. First to train new therapists to the field and second to quickly train facilitators of Implicit Psychotherapy to run small four day certification groups around the country and world.

These three modules offer clinicians who have never studied a physiological, embodied cognition, exercise-focused attachement repair, and neuroscience-based training that is short-term, low cost, brimming with cutting-edge theory, and chock full of ready-to-use easy exercises with their clients.

Secondly, if you are Somatic Experiencing or Somatic Therapy trained and complete the course, you can immediately apply to be a training facilitator for Implicit Psychotherapy experiential groups. Once an online version of this program is launched, you'll become a certified facilitator for new practitioners of Implicit Psychotherapy in your own communities.

In order to center implicit memory practices, which include physiology and interoception, into the field of psychology facilitators of this program will need to have a mental health license.

I hope you will consider joining. Would you like to lead learning groups? Do you know anyone who is looking for a short low-cost highly effective model new to this field? I recently successfully ran this program in upstate NY with a diverse group of practitioners from Maverick Counseling Center and Samadhi Recovery Center. The reviews were excellent.

Those of you who have studied with me know that I bring scientific depth and practical knowledge to students combined with direct, ready to use practices.  There are only short dyad exercises and no triads throughout, so students will leave with many exercises and skills.

In time, this framework, which centers new learning in predictive implicit memory, will become central to our understanding of healing. Come join me on the embarkment of this new paradigm.

Module 1

Core Topics: Memory Systems in Therapy, Pathways to lay down New Implicit Learning, Interoception, Predictive Appraisal, Secure Attachment Exercises, Fostering Implicit Reconnection to Essential Self.

In this workshop, participants will learn how interoception, or conscious awareness of bodily sensation, is used in therapy. Learning how to observe and change ongoing survival physiological states, as well as learning how to guide clients to repair relational ruptures on an implicit level, can lead to long-lasting and deep states of change. Participants will learn exercises that they can use for themselves and with their clients right away. Drawing on up-to-date science and memory research, this workshop distills theory and practice with clarity. Working with implicit memory is a pathway to reinstate secure attachment, increase regulation, and restore a person's sense of essential self.

Module 2

Core Topics: Restoring Action, Agency, and Organization, Survival Physiology, Procedural Movement Reorganization, Boundaries, Depotentiation of Fear Arousal, Dissociation, Implict and Explicit Timelines, Flexibility, Sustainment and Success.

In this model, we will explore how to use the branches of procedural and associative implicit memory to extinguish traumatic memories of threat and disorganized attachment. Multiple exercises involving involuntary and voluntary procedural memory will be shared to increase your client’s capacity toward Agency, Action, and Organization. You will learn several types of boundary and protector exercises to restore and empower your clients. The science of chronic stress, also known as allostatic load, and how to invoke new implicit learning to restore the biology of recovery will be explored. How to depotentiate fear physiology will be a central theme throughout the workshop. We will also expand on how to engage dissociation directly, which is an essential clinical interventions when working with trauma. You will learn how to map and work with explicit and implicit timelines for more effective treatment plans. We will use interoception to optimize resiliency and the kindling flexibility, sustainment, and success.

Module 3

Core Topics: Essential Self-Source, Purpose and disrupting Negative Core Self Beliefs, Relational Strategies and Exercises, Dreams, Archetypes, Transgenerational Trauma and Healing, Collective Trauma, Ecopsychology, Birth and Dying and Transitional states, Creativity, and Future Self.

In this model, we will explore transformative engagement with implicit memory.  We will begin by deepening work with essential self and incorporating exercises to engage Source, Purpose, and Essence as well as disrupt Negative core self-beliefs.  We will learn more about attachment and relational strategies using procedural exercises and embodied metaphor.  We will have a full day of working with dreams with your implicit psychotherapy tools.  The next part of this training brings us more into collective themes, such as working with Archetypes as a way to take history, set goals, and shift survival physiology with your clients.  Working with transgenerational trauma and healing, along with heritage and future self exercises, will be offered.  The other topics we will cover are collective healing, birth and dying as transitional states, ecopsychology, and creativity.  I hope it will be an inspirational module for you all to conclude our training together.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I may offer Implicit Psychotherapy in different locations in the future, but at this time, I do not have any other dates or locations scheduled.

  • In the future, there may be a video option that you can watch to learn the information, but unfortunately, you will not become certified because of these hurdles placed by the APA.

However, I have made provisions if you can’t attend all three modules. For the Idyllwild, California training only:

    1) Register for 2 Implicit Psychotherapy modules and get videos of all your missed content. You’ll be certified in Implicit Psychotherapy and be eligible to run IP experiential groups in your communities yourself.

    2) Register for one Implicit Psychotherapy module and get the videos for free. However, to become certified or a facilitator, you must attend an in-person 4-day experiential filled with IP dyad exercises. This will have a low accessible training fee.

  • Unfortunately, due to the constraints of the American Psychological Association, programs that combine body workers and people with a mental health license cannot get continued education credits for licensed mental health professionals. Somatic experiencing, for example, is having a very difficult time providing CE for mental health licensed professionals. Therefore, this program is focused on serving people with a psychology license, a medical license, a marriage and family therapy license, a licensed professional counselor, and licensed social workers. If you have another license that you think is APA-accredited, please let me know.

The Dream workshop is open and available to everyone.

  • We are actively applying for CEs, but they are taking longer than expected. Once we get approval, we will provide them. The material you will learn in these modules is rich and deep and will enhance your practice.

If part of your training is through videos, CEs will also be available. So, anyone taking this live class will automatically receive the videos and be eligible for those CEs when they are attached to the videos we send you. I am expecting to have video content early next year. We will be adding subtitles to make these videos available in multiple languages.

  • With a few hours of registration, you should receive an email with additional information and a link to a standard participation waiver form.

In order to complete your registration and join the first day, you need to review and check off our informed consent.

If you do not receive an email, please reach out to my assistant at info@abiblakeslee.com
